I am Whitney Hengyu Keoski, a design lover.

Most recently, I designed different types of products for 99 Ranch Market, one of the largest Asian supermarket chains in the United States, where I served as the Digital Graphic Designer in e-Commerce Department. My main focus was the redesign of 99 Ranch Market’s mobile app that was grounded in user research, product strategy, collaborative problem solving, rapid prototyping and thorough user testing. I also had cross-team collaborations for Marketing Department, which included advertising routine design and print production.
Over the years, I have completed many projects for various types of businesses. As a Freelance Graphic Designer, my main focus is to give my clients a solid visual identity through communication and an understanding of their goals and objectives.

Born and raised in Taipei City. I moved to the US in 2012 with my sister to pursue our educations. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design Visual Communication at California State University of Los Angeles. Throughout the years, I experienced different types of cultures which makes me think differently as a Designer who has more than one perspective to create user-centered products.

People are my passion, I strive to make positive contribution to the world.

MY DESIGN PROCESS

RESEARCH

Effective user experience starts by understanding users deeply. Researching about what people need, what people’s expectation is the first step of my design process. Then I gather information of competitor analysis, surveys by doing user interviews, stakeholder interview, analysis of focus group, that way I understand users’ expectations and pain points.

DEFINE

After collecting sufficient data, translating the research into clear objectives would be the second phase of the design process. This includes identifying the key features, functionalities, defining target users, and developing a product strategy. Long-term investment for a complex design may needed at this stage.

IDEATE

Next, having design solutions written down and conducting user tests to verify hypothesis. Then creating site map, wireframe, and low-fidelity prototype. This phase also includes intense collaboration and brainstorming with all stakeholders.

DESIGN

Deciding on color scheme, choosing typefaces and fonts, designing a library of visual elements that align with the company’s branding would be the first phase of this step, this is to ensure proper focus and direction for a long-term project. Then designing interactive high-fidelity prototype designs.

DEVELOP

At this stage, having effective communication and meetings with software engineers ensures the design is built precisely according to plan. This stage also requires rapid design process to co-work with the developers.

ITERATE

The software development process has no end-point. It is a process of evolution. A variety of measurements and data analysis validate the design solutions. This is followed by continuous improvements and product updates with plans for the next iteration.
